Clinical Experiences
Li Xin is an experienced and accomplished physiotherapist with over a decade of clinical expertise, specialising in the management of complex cardiorespiratory conditions. Her commitment to patient-centred care is backed by a strong academic foundation—graduating from the Singapore Institute of Technology in 2016 and earning a Master of Science in Advanced Physiotherapy (Cardiorespiratory) with Merit from the prestigious University College London in 2021.
Throughout her career, Li Xin has consistently demonstrated clinical excellence in both acute hospital and outpatient rehabilitation settings. At Sengkang General Hospital, where she served as the Cardiorespiratory Team Lead, Li Xin was instrumental in advancing physiotherapy practice within the hospital’s multidisciplinary care model. She led the management of patients in high-acuity environments such as the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and High Dependency Unit (HDU), playing a key role in early rehabilitation and mobilisation of critically ill patients. Her specialised skills in tracheostomy care and weaning facilitated smoother transitions from intensive care to step-down units, reducing hospital stay and improving long-term patient outcomes.
Beyond critical care, Li Xin is highly experienced in the long-term management of chronic cardiorespiratory conditions. She has been actively involved in the planning, execution, and quality improvement of outpatient rehabilitation programmes, including Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary Weight Management Clinics. Her focus on evidence-based exercise prescription and functional rehabilitation has helped many patients achieve meaningful improvements in exercise tolerance, symptom control, and overall quality of life.
Li Xin has also contributed significantly to perioperative care pathways, guiding patients through prehabilitation and post-surgical recovery programmes for both thoracic and cardiac surgeries. Her clinical expertise extends to the management of patients with complex co-morbidities, including those with prolonged hospitalisation, deconditioning, and frailty, ensuring safe reintegration back into community life.
A strong advocate for holistic and person-centred care, Li Xin is known for her empathetic approach, active listening, and patient empowerment strategies. She works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and customised rehabilitation goals tailored to each individual’s lifestyle, preferences, and health conditions.
Other Experiences
In addition to her clinical expertise, Li Xin is deeply committed to advancing the profession through clinical teaching, mentorship, and professional development initiatives. She has played an active role as a clinical educator, supervising physiotherapy students during their clinical placements and providing structured mentorship to newly qualified physiotherapists. Li Xin is known for her patient and supportive teaching style, helping young clinicians develop strong clinical reasoning, hands-on practical skills, and confidence in managing complex cardiorespiratory cases across both acute and outpatient settings.
As a team lead, she has also conducted regular in-service training, clinical audits, and case-based learning sessions within her department, contributing to continuous professional education and maintaining high clinical standards. Li Xin has been involved in quality improvement projects and protocol development, sharing her expertise to enhance patient care pathways, particularly in the areas of tracheostomy weaning, early mobilisation in ICU, and outpatient rehabilitation programmes.
Her passion for teaching extends beyond routine supervision—Li Xin actively promotes a culture of reflective learning, encourages evidence-based discussions, and supports her mentees in achieving their professional goals. She takes pride in contributing to the growth of future healthcare leaders and strengthening the overall capability of the physiotherapy community.
