Chronic diseases are mostly caused by:

  • Complex causes
  • Multiple risk factors

  • Prolonged illness

Most chronic diseases are generally not cured completely, e.g.:

Frequent Asked Questions about Chronic Disease Rehabilitation

How can Physiotherapy help me with my chronic disease?

Regular exercise can help you manage your chronic disease symptoms and improve your health and overall quality of life. Aerobic exercise can help improve your heart and endurance, as well as aid in weight loss. Strength training can improve overall muscle strength and endurance, providing stability to your joints, therefore making it easier to do your activities of daily living. Flexibility and stability exercises can help you improve your joint range of motion and reduce risk of falls. With the aid of a trained physiotherapist, appropriate exercises will be prescribed to you based on your medical history, so that you are able to exercise safely and effectively. However, it is highly recommended for you to consult your primary physician to clear that you are safe for exercise, before embarking on your exercise journey.
