Clinical Experiences

Jaclyn Chow is an Allied Health Professions Council registered physiotherapist. She has over 11 years of clinical and teaching experience in a major acute hospital – Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).

In addition, she has taken up numerous leadership positions within TTSH and the physiotherapy department. One of her distinguishable leadership positions was the nomination of her to be the physiotherapy-lead in the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Committee. In this appointment, she played a major role to improve clinical care and outcomes of patients pre- and post-surgery.

Jaclyn specialises in cardiorespiratory care across the disease continuum ranging from critical care to the outpatient setting. She has a keen interest in chest physiotherapy, pre- and post-surgery rehabilitation and chronic disease rehabilitation. Since 2018, she led the development and implementation of a prehabilitation programme for frail older adults planned for elective major abdominal surgery which resulted in the preservation of functional fitness of patients despite having undergone major surgery.

In addition to her clinical work, Jaclyn is change-maker in improving care delivery of patients across the disease continuum. For her work in improving early mobilisation in the surgical intensive care unit (ICU), she was recognised at the Singapore Health and Biomedical Congress in 2019 where she won the prestigious Singapore Allied Health Silver Award together with Yan Ying.

As a cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation specialist, Jaclyn is heavily involved in improving care delivery to patients beyond the hospital setting.

Her drive to achieve high standards of care for patients and provide access to quality care beyond the hospital walls were the main motivators for her to establish Heart and Lung Physio.

Other Experiences

Jaclyn has a special interest in the adoption of technology in chronic disease management and led the founding of Heart Track™, a mobile application to empower heart patients to exercise anytime, anywhere at their convenience. With her team, she went on to clinch the Automation, IT and Robotics Innovation Best practice medal award by the National Healthcare Innovation and Productivity awards 2021.

She is also committed to evidence-based care and research. She has published several papers in cardiac rehabilitation and post operative management of patients after hepatopancreatobiliary surgery. She spoke at various conferences such as the Singapore Rehabilitation Conference 2017 and Singapore Prevention and Cardiac Rehabilitation Symposium 2021.
